Being an artist for me has been about being a craftsman and a fine artist.
Being a craftsman has been about being a metal fabricator for some 15 years starting in a small shop in Los Angeles called Fabtech
working on stainless steel carts and race cars.
Fabtech not only taught me how to use many of the tools and machines I use today, but also greatly influenced my sense of aesthetic.
Racecar work you show your welds, you keep your fasteners visible. It's all about quick and easy access and inspection of every things structural integrity.
A overt transparency of the what and the how of the object your looking at.
Something close to the "What you see is what you get." school.
